Дрессированные цирковые слоны умеют играть в футбол, вращать дрессировщика в быстром темпе вокруг своей оси, балансировать на бочках и катиться на них, поднимать пони на хоботе и многое другое.
Больше всего слоны любят есть: бананы, сахар и яблоки. Доминирующая часть в рационе – сено, потом овощи – морковка, свекла, картошка, капуста. В день требуется в среднем 150 килограмм пищи.
На слонов охотятся из-за их бивней, используемых в украшениях и поделках. Для предотвращения полного уничтожения слоны были занесены в Международную Красную книгу. Слоны живут до 100 лет.
Индийские слоны хорошо приручаются, их используют как транспортное средство в труднопроходимой местности, для переноски брёвен, а также в цирке. Африканские слоны не приручаются.
